Mold Testing

Air Quality and Mold Assessment by Laboratory Analysis

Should I Get a Mold Test?

It is important to note that mold is present in every environment, including every house in Rhode Island and Connecticut. Mold spores are everywhere. Mold becomes an issue when the concentration of mold spores in a home is greater than what is found outside.

During a standard home inspection, potential hidden problem areas are assessed utilizing specialized equipment such as moisture meters and infrared cameras. If we find elevated levels of moisture and conditions conducive to mold growth, you may choose to have air or surface samples taken and sent to a lab for analysis. Once the lab has finished analyzing the samples you will receive a comprehensive report stating whether mold is an issue in your home or not, as well as which types are present and inherent known risks.

At Onega Inspection Services, we test for mold in two ways, Surface Swab Samples and Air Samples:

Surface Swab Samples are used to determine the type of mold present in home. This test does not identify spore counts.

Air Samples are used to determine types of mold, as well as measure mold spore counts present in the air.

How Much Does Mold Testing Cost?

At Onega Inspection Services, our Mold Tests are priced as follows:

Surface Swab Sample - $100

Air Sample (includes three air samples) - $300
