What is a WDO / Pest Inspection?
We strongly recommend our customers in Connecticut purchase a wood-destroying insect inspection. Wood-destroying organisms (WDO), can cause major issues to the wooden structural components of a home. These organisms include, but are not limited to, termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees and powder-post beetles.
It is common for wood-destroying organisms and insects to go undetected for long periods of time. However, a professional pest inspection can uncover hidden activity before major damage is caused to the structure of a home. An inspection can also determine evidence of previous pest treatments.
Do You Provide an Official Pest Inspection Report?
Yes. We are both Certified Home Inspector and Certified Pest Inspector.
As Certified Pest Inspector, we can include an official pest inspection report along with each of our home inspections. This report, also known as Form NPMA-33, is typically needed with various home loans.
Do You Offer Pest Treatments?
No. Each of our pest inspections abide by the Standards of Practice as stated by The American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI). This means that we fully accept the role of Inspector only and do not advocate non-inspection related services, such as treatment or remediation, as this would be a conflict of interest and interfere with our ability to provide a entirely unbiased assessment of your home.
We inspect for termites and other wood destroying insects, but we do not provide a plan of treatment or treatment, itself. Our goal is to provide an impartial WDO / Termite Inspection to home buyers that is both affordable and convenient.
How Much Does a WDO / Pest Inspection Cost?
A WDO / Pest Inspection is $80 with a standard home inspection.
A standalone pest inspection is $130
